Test Code NBILIP Bilirubin, Neonatal

Important Note

This test should be used for infants <30 days old.

NOTE: It is important to maintain consistency in bilirubin methodology. Regardless of the patient's age, if BuBc is used to monitor a patient initially, then continue to monitor the patient using BuBc. Do not switch to TBIL regardless of the patient's age.

Contains Conjugated, Unconjugated, and Calculated Total Bilirubin.

Specimen Information

Obtain specimen using standard phlebotomy techniques.

No special patient preparation is necessary.

In order to ensure adequate sample volume for testing we ask that you submit 2 microtainers, if possible.

NBILI (Total) = Bu + Bc
