Send for processing ASAP. Please submit specimen in entirety up to 1-liter.

It is essential to include history of cancer and radiation/chemo therapy on the test requisition or electronic order.

  1. Deliver fresh specimens to the laboratory immediately after collection. 
    • Refrigerate sample if held overnight
  2. Specimen containers (not the lid) need to be labeled with patient identifiers: legal first and last name, and MRN or DOB. 
  3. Samples collected between 4:00 pm and 7:30 am should be refrigerated upon receipt in the laboratory. 
  4. Submit entire collected fluid up to 1-liter. 
  5. No specimen should be submitted with a needle attached to the collection container or syringe.
