Useful For
Assessing hepatitis C status in persons at risk for or showing signs or symptoms.
This assay may be used to screen hepatitic C infection in pregnant women to identify neonates who are at high risk of acquiring HCV during the prenatal period.
Specimen Information
Obtain specimen using standard phlebotomy techniques.
No special patient preparation is necessary.

Anti-HCV IgG not detected. Patient is presumed not to be infected with HCV. If a patient has a history of reactive anti-HCV then an HCV RNA Quantification must be indicated on the order by the provider regardless of the current screening results. |

Anti-HCV may or may not be present. An HCV PCR Detect/Quant (HCVQN) will be ordered for confirmation. |

Reactive |
Anti-HCV IgG detected. Patient is presumed to be infected with HCV, state or associated disease not determined. An HCV PCR Detect/Quant (HCVQN) will be ordered for confirmation. |
