Important Note

The results of this assay can be falsely lowered due to the consumption of Biotin. Patients should be instructed to discontinue the use of vitamins or supplements that contain Biotin 12 hours before blood collection.

Useful For

Detection of pregnancy.

Assessing ectopic pregnancies or other pregnancy related issues.

 

This test is not useful for detecting or monitoring tumors or gestational trophoblastic disease.

Specimen Information

Obtain specimen using standard phlebotomy techniques.

If taking a suppliment containing Biotin, patients should be instructed to discontinue its use 12 hours before blood collection.
