Clinical areas have been trained in sample collection.

NOTE:

Collectors must follow instructions carefully to get an accurate reading of the results.

Do not collect samples earlier than 6 hours after the removal of any disinfectant solutions or medications from the vagina.

Placenta previa and performing digital exams prior to sample collection can lead to inaccurate results.

Collection:

1. Take the Amnisure solvent vial by its cap and shake well to make sure all liquid in the vial has dropped to the bottom. Open the vial (saving the cap) and place it in a vertical position.
2. Use the sterile polyester swab provided with the test kit to collect the sample. Remove the sterile swab from its package. The tip of the swab should not touch anything prior to collection. Hold the swab in the middle of its shaft and, while the patient is lying on her back, carefully insert the tip into the vagina until the fingers (holding the swab) contact the skin (no more than 2 - 3 inches or 5 - 7 cm deep). Withdraw the swab from the vagina after 1 minute.
3. After the swab has been removed from the vagina, immediaterly place the polyester tip into the solvent vial and rinse bt roating for 1 minute (mix).
4. Remove the swab from the vial and dispose of it in the proper receptical.  Cap the labeled vial and deliver immediately to the lab for testing.

Reject Due To:

- Specimen unlabeled or mislabeled

- Reagent vial / swab expired

- Improper swab used for collection

- Sample received in the lab >4 hours after collection
